Kanubhai Hasmukhbhai Tailor is the visionary founder of the Disable Welfare Trust of India, a pioneering advocate of inclusion, and an inspiration to millions. Overcoming his own physical challenges from childhood, Kanubhai transformed adversity into a lifelong mission: to empower people with disabilities and ensure they have equal opportunities to learn, grow, and lead fulfilling lives.

Kanubhai’s remarkable journey is marked by perseverance, compassion, and innovation. Under his leadership, the Trust has touched thousands of lives through education, healthcare, vocational training, and advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities. His relentless work has been recognized at the highest levels; in 2011, he was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India for his outstanding service to society.

Driven by the belief that ability lies not in the body but in the spirit, Kanubhai continues to inspire teams, volunteers, and beneficiaries to push boundaries and re-imagine what is possible. His legacy is founded on dignity, inclusiveness, and the unwavering conviction that everyone deserves the chance to shine.

Prabhu Nu Ghar

World’s First Old-Age Home for Disabled Seniors

Discover Prabhu Nu Ghar, the world’s first old-age home dedicated to elderly persons with physical disabilities, nestled on the serene banks of the Narmada River in Uchediya village, Bharuch, Gujarat. Inaugurated on February 19, 2023, by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel alongside Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Founder, Chairman & MD of KP Group, this visionary project—supported by the KP Human Development Foundation and led by Padma Shri Dr. Kanubhai Tailor’s Disable Welfare Trust of India—offers a barrier-free sanctuary for 200 residents, blending compassion, modern amenities, and dignity for the specially abled seniors

When I first joined the Disable Welfare Trust of India, I was unsure whether I could ever stand on my own feet, let alone contribute meaningfully to society. Through Dr. Kanubhai’s vision and tireless efforts, I not only gained education but also developed self-confidence and practical skills. Today, as a section officer in the Gujarat government, I attribute my journey of empowerment to Dr. Tailor’s inspiring leadership and the nurturing environment at DWTI.
